Kids On 12th
New - preschool, kindergarten, 1st - 2nd grade! Small classes, creative learning. Summer camp, pods Come see for yourself or ask anyone who has experienced KO12!
A busy mom with two kids couldn’t find a daycare to support her active child. So, one day in 2007, inside the iconic 12th Street Gym in Center City Philadelphia, Sharon Founded “Kids on 12th.” Her unique philosophy of letting kids be who they are, while teaching them the values of sharing and caring and relating has resonated with thousands of families. Known today as “KO12 Kids,” Philadelphia families have access to PA Department of Education licensed private micro-Kindergarten through 2nd grade, a Preschool that rivals Montessori, a safe, school-aged onsite virtual learning support classroom, after school with walking pick up from 5 local elementaryschools and an award winning Summer Camp, and more! KO12 Kids now combines educational fun and social learning inside its own 8,000 square foot facility, one block from where it started in Philadelphia so many years ago. KO12 Kids remains the city's best choice with no contracts or written commitments, with flexible part time schedules, billing after attending, and open when schools are closed. KO12 is family owned and operated with the foundational belief that kids are who they are and can be who they need to be when they are given the love, support, and tools they need.

Aloha Superpower: Complimenting Myself! 🪞✨
Last week, we practiced giving and receiving compliments from friends and teachers. This week, we took it a step further and talked about why it’s so important to compliment ourselves!
Kindness given freely spreads—and that spread starts with me! Our students looked into the mirror and got to say something kind to the reflection staring back at them. It was thrilling to watch every child smile and laugh, filling the whole room with joyful energy! 🥰
💡 Discussion Question
(With an honest-and-kind answer!)
“What if I make a big mistake or do something bad, and I don’t think I deserve a compliment?”
Great question! Every human on earth makes mistakes regularly—that’s how we learn and grow!
The fascinating thing about being human is that we can be many things all at the same time:
You might really struggle in math class, but you can still be a fantastic reader who deserves a compliment! 📚
If you make a mistake with a friend, making amends so you both feel better is a brave choice that deserves praise, too.
Kind words can always help both you and your friend feel better!
🌈 Power of Three (Every Day!)
Be kind to another person
Be kind to my community or family
Be kind to myself
🧠 My Daily Affirmations:
I am getting smarter every day
I am getting stronger every day
I am getting kinder every day
💬 Home Connection Question:
Ask your child tonight: “Can you think of one compliment to give yourself every morning to start the day?” 💭 (Bonus idea: Start a family compliment journal! 📓✨)

🌟 Aloha Superpower! Compliments!
Compliments are kind words we say to help someone feel good 😊💛
And the best part? Compliments spread kindness!
If I tell my friend, “You look handsome today!”
they smile, say “thank you,” and I might even get a hug! That makes me feel good too!
Then my friend feels good enough to pass a compliment to someone else… and kindness keeps spreading. ✨🌍
💡 Discussion Question (with an honest-and-kind answer!)
“What if someone asks me if I like something, but I don’t?”
We can be honest and kind.
Example: If someone asks about their purple sparkly barrette and I don’t love the color, I can say:
“I don’t love purple, but I really like that flower part!” 🌸
🌈 Power of Three (every day!)
Be kind to another person
Be kind to my community or family
Be kind to myself
🧠 My reminder:
I am getting smarter every day
I am getting stronger every day
I am getting kinder every day
💬 End of day review question for you and your child: What’s one compliment you gave or received today? How did it make you feel?

I spent today busy with the routine of normal life, yet memories from 25 years ago nagged at my soul. Sadness and despair built as each thought multiplied into the violent images of more recent years. Hatred, fear, and shock weigh heavy on my overly empathetic emotions.
I have always been taught the value of remembering; history is vital to change, whether we feel that change in the moment or not. But today, I am having a hard time feeling positive change.
But then I remember my mission. I remember my kids—my own away at college, and the thousands who have passed through my doors at Kids on 12th.
I pledge to do my very best to actively teach and model kindness, love, empathy, resilience, and wisdom to every child I have the privilege to care for. I will always stay honest with facts, but I will also teach what it takes to facilitate real change.
Please join me in my promise to hug a child every day, to give more high fives, and to lead with love. Change doesn't start with our children—it starts with us as their teachers and examples.
