Thinking of signing your child up for music lessons? Start with the basics—notation, finger placements, technique—older Kindermusik kiddos get to dig deeper into fundamentals of musical instruments that lead to successful one-on-one lessons in the future.

In our big kid classes, circle dances are so much more than moving in a circle. They have a sequential order, and children have to:
- actively listen for changes in the music and
- respond with the next movement in the sequence.

It's a workout for the ears and the brain: auditory discrimination, memory, anticipation, and self-regulation, all wrapped up in something that feels like play. 🎶

This is such a great complement to the free, expressive movement we also do in class where kids explore music through their own interpretation with no 'right' answer. Together, these two types of movement build well-rounded listeners and movers: kids who can follow structure AND express themselves freely. 💫

YES. Music feeds every part of early childhood development.

Did you know steady beat is one of the biggest building blocks of early childhood development? 🥁
It's not just about music. Steady beat helps little ones learn to walk and talk, catch a ball, use scissors, ride a bike, and so much more. For babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, musical play is their work, and you can bet each and every activity we do in class is laying the foundation for skills they'll use for life. 💗
Swipe through to see how steady beat shows up at every stage, then come find your own steady beat with us!

Big emotions don't have to be scary! Music and movement activities provide a safe outlet for kiddos to express sometimes tricky feelings in productive and healthy ways. This improves their ability to self-regulate now and as they move into school.

👀 What do you see?
Children playing instruments.
But here's what I see as their teacher...

✨ They're watching closely for my cues.
✨ They're listening for changes in the music.
✨ They're deciding whether they hear a "high" or "low" sound.
✨ They're waiting patiently until it's their turn to play.
✨ They're learning to respond at just the right moment.
These might look like simple music games, but they're building skills that children use every day in kindergarten and beyond.
When children learn to follow a conductor, they're also learning to:

Focus their attention
Listen carefully
Practice self-control
Process information before responding
Watch for visual cues
Participate as part of a group
These are the same skills that help children listen to their teacher, follow multi-step directions, participate in group activities, and become confident learners.
That's one of the reasons I'm so excited to launch my inaugural **Kindermusik Musicians** cohort this fall.
In Musicians, children don't just learn about music...they develop the habits of successful learners THROUGH music.
🎼 If your child is 5–6 years old and you're looking for a joyful next step in their musical journey, I'd love to tell you more.
Comment **"MUSIC"** or send me a message for details! 💚

When our brain activity is aligned, rational thinking and connection come into play. That plays into every part of success in school, relationships, and life in general.

A question I hear often from parents is:
My child loves music...but what's next?
Should we start piano?
Are they ready for formal lessons?
This is surely what makes Kindermusik Musicians the great choice.
Rather than jumping straight into learning one instrument, children first build the foundations that every musician needs:
🎼 Music reading
🎵 Rhythm
🎹 Instrument play
👂 Listening skills
🤝 Ensemble experiences
🎶 Musical confidence
Think of it as learning the musical "alphabet" before reading a book.

By building these skills first, children are better prepared for whatever musical path they choose in the future—whether that's piano, violin, band, choir, or simply a lifelong love of music.
What instrument does your child dream of playing someday? Tell me in the comments!
