A hurricane is the most likely catastrophe to knock out power. To stay informed about the storm’s progress, make sure you have a battery-operated radio with extra batteries, fully charged portable charging devices, and that your generator is in working order.

In case your home is in the path of a wildfire, I recommend taking some steps to help firefighters put a stop to it.

1. Look at your property from the road to make sure your address is visible.

2. If you have gates around your property, check to ensure they swing inward and that the opening is large enough for emergency crews to enter with their equipment.

3. Keep a ladder handy that is long enough to reach your roof. It may help firefighters gain quick access.
