Your Framed Artwork Fell Off the Wall. What Should You Do Before Trying to Hang It Again?

Your framed artwork just fell off the wall. What should you do next?

Even when the glass looks intact, a fall can damage the frame, loosen its corners, or affect the artwork inside.

Before trying to hang it again:

• Check the area for broken glass or sharp materials. Keep people and pets away.
• Avoid moving damaged glazing with bare hands.
• Look for gaps at the frame corners, loose backing, or shifted artwork.
• Don't tape the frame together or force damaged parts back into place.
• Take clear photos of the front, back, and damaged areas before requesting help.

If the piece is large, heavy, or unstable, avoid lifting it yourself. A professional evaluation can help determine whether repair, replacement, or complete reframing makes sense.

Picture Worth Custom Framing offers frame evaluations, repairs, and custom reframing in Spring, serving The Woodlands, Conroe, and Metropolitan Houston.

Why Does a Large Piece of Artwork Need More Than Just a Bigger Frame?

Framing a large piece of artwork takes more than choosing a bigger frame.

As artwork gets larger, the weight, materials, and structural support become increasingly important.

Before ordering an oversized custom frame, consider five things:

• Frame strength: Large moulding joints must support the finished assembly.
• Artwork weight: The artwork, backing, and glazing can add significant weight.
• Material choices: Glass, acrylic, and other components have different practical limits.
• Structural support: Some projects need additional reinforcement or specialized construction.
• Finished dimensions: Measure doorways, hallways, and the intended display space before committing to a design.

A beautiful frame should complement the artwork without compromising its safety.

Picture Worth Custom Framing manufactures custom frames in-house and works with oversized artwork throughout Metropolitan Houston, including The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, and Montgomery.

Need a Diploma or Certificate Framed Before an Important Presentation? What Should You Prepare First?

Have an important diploma, certificate, or award presentation coming up?

A professional frame can make the moment more memorable, but waiting until the last minute can limit your choices.

Before requesting rush framing, gather five details:

• Document size: Measure the actual paper, not just the envelope.
• Deadline: Tell the framer when the finished piece is needed.
• Frame style: Decide whether you prefer classic wood, sleek black, or another professional look.
• Matting: Consider whether a mat would improve the presentation.
• Document condition: Let the framer know about folds, fragile paper, or existing damage.

If the deadline is close, ask which materials are available before choosing a design.

Picture Worth Custom Framing manufactures custom frames in-house near I-45 and Cypresswood, serving The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, and Metropolitan Houston.

We evaluate urgent projects individually. Same-day completion is not guaranteed, and rush fees may apply.

Is Your Large Canvas Ready for Display? Five Things to Check Before Framing and Hanging It

A large canvas can transform a room, but its size alone doesn't tell you whether it's ready to hang.

Before deciding where an oversized canvas belongs, look at how it was prepared and framed.

Five details matter:

• Canvas tension: Loose fabric or sagging areas deserve an evaluation before framing.
• Stretcher support: Larger pieces may need a suitable bar profile and additional bracing.
• Frame style: Floater and traditional frames create different edge treatments.
• Wall space: Measure the artwork and surrounding furniture before choosing a display location.
• Safe handling: Large artwork needs careful movement and support to avoid damage.

A frame can improve presentation, but it cannot correct every structural problem with a canvas.

Picture Worth Custom Framing provides in-house canvas stretching and oversized custom framing for customers throughout Metropolitan Houston, including The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, and Montgomery.

Is Your Picture Frame Coming Apart? Five Warning Signs You Shouldn't Ignore

A frame doesn't have to be shattered to put your artwork at risk.

A loose corner, shifting backing, or a frame pulling away from its hanging hardware can be an early warning sign.

Before hanging the piece again, check for these problems:

• Separating corners: Gaps can weaken the frame's support.
• Loose backing: The artwork may no longer be held securely.
• Bowed moulding: A large or heavy piece may need a stronger framing solution.
• Damaged glazing: Cracks or shifting glass can threaten the artwork inside.
• Unstable hanging hardware: A frame that tilts or pulls away from its attachment needs attention.

Don't force the corners together, tape the frame, or attempt to remove damaged glass. Keep the artwork supported in a safe location until it can be evaluated.

Picture Worth Custom Framing assesses frame damage, replacement options, and custom reframing in Spring, serving The Woodlands, Conroe, and Metropolitan Houston.

Can You Frame an Unstretched Canvas, or Does It Need to Be Stretched First?

Bought a canvas painting that arrived rolled up? Don't choose the frame just yet.

First, find out whether the canvas needs to be stretched.

Canvas stretching means securing the artwork around a wooden stretcher-bar structure so it can be displayed as a traditional stretched canvas.

Before stretching, a professional framer should evaluate:

• Canvas condition: Is the fabric stable, or are there creases, tears, or fragile areas?
• Painted edges: Does the artwork have enough usable material around the image?
• Artwork size: Will the canvas need additional structural support?
• Display style: Do you want a floater frame, traditional frame, or another suitable presentation?
• Finished dimensions: How will stretching affect the size and framing options?

Not every canvas should be stretched. Some artwork may require a different mounting or framing approach.

Picture Worth Custom Framing provides in-house canvas stretching and custom framing for customers throughout Metropolitan Houston, including The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, and Montgomery.

Have a rolled or unstretched canvas? Send PWCF photos and measurements before ordering your frame.

Your Framed Artwork Is Damaged Before a Weekend Event. What Should You Do First?

A damaged picture frame before a weekend event can feel like a disaster. But the artwork inside may still be fine.

Before you attempt a quick repair, follow these steps:

• Stop handling the frame if glass is cracked or loose.
• Keep the artwork supported and away from children and pets.
• Photograph the damage without disturbing broken components.
• Note the artwork's approximate dimensions.
• Tell your framer exactly when the finished piece is needed.

Avoid taping broken glazing, forcing separated corners together, or attempting to remove artwork from damaged glass.

A professional assessment can help determine whether frame repair, replacement glazing, or complete reframing is the most practical option.

Picture Worth Custom Framing provides emergency framing evaluations, custom reframing, and replacement glass or plexi at our Houston-area studio near I-45 and Cypresswood.

We serve The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Montgomery, and surrounding communities.

Rush availability depends on materials, project requirements, and production capacity. Additional rush fees may apply.

Should You Choose a Floater Frame or a Traditional Frame for a Large Canvas?

A large canvas can look completely different depending on the frame you choose.

Two popular options are floater frames and traditional custom frames. Neither is automatically the better choice.

Here's what to consider:

• Floater frame: Creates a deliberate gap around the stretched canvas for a clean, contemporary look.
• Traditional frame: Can overlap the canvas edges and create a more classic or decorative presentation.
• Painted edges: A floater frame may reveal the sides of the canvas, so their condition matters.
• Canvas depth: Stretcher-bar thickness affects which frame profiles will work.
• Artwork size: Large pieces need suitable support, accurate measurements, and safe handling.

Before choosing a style, have the canvas evaluated for its dimensions, structure, and overall condition.

Picture Worth Custom Framing provides in-house canvas stretching and custom framing for large artwork throughout Metropolitan Houston, including The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, and Montgomery.
