Our Loretta girl. ❤️

What a LONG road it has been for this baby.

Many of you followed along earlier this year when Loretta had emergency colic surgery, and so many of you supported us through her GoFundMe and cheered her on. Unfortunately, complications from that surgery later left her with a large hernia, which meant another major surgery about two months ago.

The months of healing, scheduled cleanings, restrictions, hauling her back for ultrasounds and constantly worrying about whether everything was healing the way it should… it has been a lot.

But we finally feel like we’re on the downhill side. 🙌🏼

Her hernia surgery through Mid-Rivers Equine Centre was a SUCCESS! Dr. Baxter checked her again today and her mesh has held beautifully, her healing looks fantastic, and he is SO happy with her progress. He’s just as proud of this girl as we are!

She still has a few months of healing ahead of her, but the expectation is that she should go on to live a completely normal life.

Although I’m not sure there’s anything “normal” about this girl. 😂 Through everything she has been through, Loretta has remained the friendliest, bravest and most curious baby Clydesdale. Every monthly haul, every ultrasound, every cleaning and every restriction… she just takes it all in stride.

I am SO incredibly proud of her. ❤️

We still have a little road ahead of us, but after everything this girl has been through, it finally feels like we can see the finish line.

Our adult starter groups have honestly been such a refreshing part of our program this year. A group of women who simply wanted to learn more, become better horsewomen, spend time in the saddle and enjoy the horses.

As this group’s five-month starter program comes to an end, we’re SO happy that nearly the entire group has decided to stay with us through the winter and keep going!

Well, this one stings a little.

We recently received a 1-star review from someone who has never actually visited Riverside or used any of our services.

Maybe we were full, didn’t respond as quickly as they hoped, or one of our policies didn’t work for them. We honestly don’t know.

What we DO know is there are real people behind this business. We’re caring for 26 horses, teaching lessons, giving rides, answering messages and doing our best every single day. Sometimes we’re full. Sometimes we can’t respond immediately. And sometimes we have rules that have to be followed, especially when it comes to our horses and riders.

So, a little favor from those who have actually been here.
