📣 HEY, STURGIS! A LITTLE ABOUT ME! 🔪🇺🇸

Hey, everyone! I’m not exactly new around here, but now that our move is official and everything is good to go, I figured it was time to properly reintroduce myself!

My name is Dustin, and I’m the owner of SoDak Sharp, a veteran-owned sharpening business that I operate right out of my home! After spending the last 7 years in Summerset, my family and I made the move to Sturgis a few months ago, and we’re excited to officially call this community home! We’ve been involved in the Black Hills area for a while, but now we’re looking forward to getting to know even more of our neighbors right here in Sturgis. 👋

🔪 SO, WHAT DOES SODAK SHARP DO?

I help bring life back to your dull edges! I sharpen:

✅ Kitchen and pocket knives
✅ Scissors
✅ Yard tools
✅ Mower blades
✅ And much more!

(Just a heads-up: I currently don’t sharpen hair shears, clippers, or saw blades.)

🏡 CONVENIENT, HASSLE-FREE DROP-OFF!

Most of my sharpening is done right here at our home in Sturgis, where I have secure lockboxes on the front porch for easy drop-off and pickup. Typical turnaround time is just 2–3 days! No need to coordinate schedules or wait around.

You can also catch me at the Black Hills Farmers Market on Saturdays during the spring and summer, where I sharpen on-site while you shop! 🛍️

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A LITTLE ABOUT US!

My wife, Katie, and I have six kids ranging from a high school freshman all the way down to our 4-year-old! When I’m not sharpening, I work full-time as an air traffic controller at Ellsworth AFB. Between work, six kids, and all the activities that come with family life, things definitely stay busy around here! 😂 But I genuinely enjoy what I do and love helping people get more life out of the tools they use every day.

Locker update! Sorry but all of the lockers are currently full. I have them all sharpened and they will become available as others pick up their items.

As some of you may know our son crashed his bike last Wednesday on his way to school and ended up breaking his femur. So we were in Sioux Falls for a few days to have surgery and things got backed up. We are back home now and he is doing well so I was able to get everything sharpened and caught up today!

Sorry for the inconvenience and I will post as a few lockers become available. (A few people said they planned to pick up their items tomorrow, 20 Oct!) Thanks and if you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Big shout-out and thanks to Breadroot Natural Foods Co-op for inviting us to their event this last Saturday. It was great meeting lots of new people and being able to bring quite a few people some great new knives for their kitchens as well as putting some fresh, new edges on some dull blades! We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to working together in the future!

🎉🔪 FOUR YEARS OF SODAK SHARP! 🔪🎉

With all the craziness life has thrown my way lately, I nearly let October 10th slip by without realizing it marked FOUR YEARS of SoDak Sharp! 🤯

Four years?! Looking back at where this all started and seeing what it has grown into is pretty incredible. What began as a simple sharpening setup and a slow process has turned into something I genuinely love doing, and the journey has been a whole lot of fun!

Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane! 👇

🔹 Back to the beginning: I started with a pretty basic setup and a sharpening process that got the job done, but definitely wasn't winning any speed records! 😂 As business picked up, I invested in equipment to improve efficiency and get your items back to you faster.

🔹 Farmers market days: Bringing SoDak Sharp to the farmers markets was a HUGE step forward! Getting to see so many familiar faces each summer, meet new customers, and bring those dull edges back to life week after week has been one of the best parts of this adventure. ❤️

🔹 The mobile workshop: After enough weeks of loading and unloading the truck, I decided there had to be a better way! Enter the enclosed trailer, which has made life easier, improved efficiency, and opened the door to more commercial sharpening opportunities. 😎

And now, we're starting a new chapter here in Sturgis! Moving the business has brought some exciting opportunities, and I'm looking forward to building even more connections throughout the Northern Hills and finding new ways to serve our community.

Seriously, thank you to every single person who has trusted me with your items over the past four years. I'm especially grateful to those of you who take the time to spread the word or leave an online review. Those little things make a BIG difference for a small business like mine. We're sitting just shy of 100 five-star reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and approaching 800 Facebook followers! Those numbers might not seem huge to everyone, but they mean a lot to me. Every review, referral, follow, and returning customer helps keep this dream moving forward!

As a veteran-owned small business, being able to build something of my own while serving the people and businesses around me has been incredibly rewarding. I'm proud of how far SoDak Sharp has come, but I'm even more excited about where we're headed!

🚀 Year five, let's go! I'm looking forward to continuing to improve, finding new ways to serve you, growing our commercial routes, and helping even more people get back to cutting their best.
