🚨 Our tax dollars should not be funding animal cruelty!

Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy of New York and Democratic Congressman Mark Pocan of Wisconsin have introduced the bipartisan COMPACT Act (H.R. 10522), legislation aimed at ending federal funding through the Department of Health and Human Services for experiments involving live dogs and cats.

For far too long, dogs, cats and other animals have been subjected to painful experiments in laboratories and breeding facilities often with little hope of ever experiencing life outside those walls.

The COMPACT Act would restrict federal funding for these experiments, encourage alternatives that do not involve live animals, and support efforts to give dogs and cats no longer needed for research a chance to find loving homes.

⏰ TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

The bill has been referred to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, but it has not yet become law.

With the current Congress ending in January 2027, there is a limited window to advance this legislation. If it does not pass before the congressional term ends, it would need to be reintroduced.

There is no official deadline to call, but NOW is the time to make your voice heard!

❤️‍🩹 Last week we shared the heartbreaking news that Einstein, our blind senior boy with a large tumor on his neck, had taken a frightening turn.

His liver and kidney values had risen, he was falling over, and his doctors were deeply concerned about his neurological symptoms.

We feared the worst - but today, we have a small encouraging update ❤️

Einstein's neurological symptoms appear to be improving and his medical team is continuing antibiotics for suspected meningitis or another infectious disease, along with steroids.

We still don't have all the answers, and Einstein is far from out of the woods. But after everything he has endured, even a little improvement means so much.

Einstein was once a forgotten blind senior sitting in a shelter. Today, he has an entire community fighting for him.

His medical care is ongoing, and we need your continued support. Please keep sharing his story and donating if you can. We will keep fighting for Einstein. ❤️

💔 We rescued Lolo in 2025, and what should have been the beginning of her second chance turned into a heartbreaking battle with cancer.

Since her rescue, Lolo has undergone multiple surgeries to remove cancerous masses and has endured chemotherapy. Despite every effort to give her more time, the cancer has been relentless.

Lolo was adopted by a wonderful mom earlier in the year who absolutely spoils her. She loves swimming, car rides, other dogs, cats, pup cups, and every person she meets. She is a girl who truly loves life, and her mom makes sure she gets to experience all the happiness she deserves.

Now, our only wish is for Lolo to spend whatever time she has left doing the things she loves, surrounded by comfort, joy, and the family who adores her.

Lolo's mom has put together an Amazon wishlist filled with special things to bring her a little extra happiness and comfort during this difficult time.

Click the link in our bio or below to shop Lolo's wishlist - she can't wait to open all the boxes that show up at her doorstep 😂❤️

❤️‍🩹 After everything Maximus has been through, we finally have the kind of update we have been waiting to share.

When we first met him, the damage to his face was devastating. His nasal openings were severely compromised, he was battling serious gastrointestinal complications, and doctors were trying to understand what was happening beneath the injuries we could see.

What initially appeared to be trauma became a complicated medical case involving a rodent ulcer and so many unknowns.

But Maximus kept going.

His condition has improved significantly, and today he is stable, comfortable and continuing to move forward.
The difference is incredible, but we will never forget what this cat looked like when he first needed us, or how much medical care it took to get him here.

Maximus is a reminder of why we take the difficult cases. Why we keep going when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. And why your support matters so much.

Please keep donating, keep sharing and keep showing up for animals like Maximus. Because there will always be another animal who needs someone willing to say yes ❤️

❤️‍🩹 BARK MAHOMES HAS ANOTHER BATTLE AHEAD

After being at risk in a municipal shelter, one of our little puppies is now facing another major medical hurdle.

Bark has an extremely large hernia that will require surgery.

Due to the size and severity of the hernia, there are still a lot of unknowns. His surgical team plans to repair it traditionally, but they won’t know exactly what they are dealing with until they get inside, return everything to where it belongs and determine whether there is enough healthy tissue to securely close the area.

If the repair cannot hold on its own and Bark needs surgical mesh, he will require referral for a more specialized procedure.

There is also no way to predict his healing time yet, and complications are always possible with a hernia this significant.

This little boy already fought his way through parvo. Now we’re asking everyone to keep Bark Mahomes in your thoughts as he heads into another fight this week. Please continue sharing his story and donate to his ongoing care if you can.

One battle at a time, little man. We’re right here with you. ❤️

🚨 This sweet girl ended up loose on the streets of New York, but luckily one of our foster coordinators saw her running - and jumped into action to save her.

From there, an incredible group of women came together Carlyn Kaitlin Perata. Calls were made, plans were coordinated, and everyone worked together to make sure she was safe. Her owner ultimately surrendered her into our care, giving her the chance to start a new chapter.

Now, Princess Serena urgently needs a foster or forever home.

She’s dog friendly, people friendly, house trained and crate trained. She’s also spayed and vaccinated.

So many people came together to get her to safety. Now we need one more person to open their home and help carry her the rest of the way. ❤️
