🐾 Kindness costs nothing, but it means everything. 🐾

Every animal deserves to be treated with compassion.

Whether it’s your own pet, a stray searching for food, or a frightened dog sitting in a shelter kennel, a little kindness can change that animal’s world.

Kindness can be as simple as:
❤️ Providing fresh water.
❤️ Driving a lost dog to safety.
❤️ Spaying or neutering your pet to help prevent unwanted litters.
❤️ Choosing patience over anger.
❤️ Supporting the organizations and volunteers working to give animals a second chance.

We may not all agree on every aspect of animal care, but we can all agree that animals deserve to be treated with respect and compassion.

At the Humane Society of St. Thomas, that’s what we’re striving for every single day.

What does kindness to animals look like to you? Share your thoughts below. 🐶🐱💙

Pictured below is one of our amazing volunteers working to get a small puppy to eat. The puppy didn’t wanna take in the food so Kathy grabbed a spoon to see if we could get the little puppy to eat. This is my friend is kindness.

🐾 COURTESY REHOMING POST — TWO CATS NEED A NEW HOME 🐾

Sometimes loving an animal also means recognizing when you can no longer provide the best situation for them. ❤️

A member of our St. Thomas community is looking for a new home for two medium/long-haired cats that she originally stepped up to help after they were essentially abandoned by a former neighbor. She has been caring for them and making sure they were safe, fed, and loved, but due to a recent medical diagnosis and a severe cat allergy, her doctors have strongly recommended that she remove cats from her home.

Now she is hoping our community can help her find these two a safe and loving place to land. 🏡🐱

🐾 Male: Approximately 3 years old, neutered, and SUPER friendly.

🐾 Female: His sister, also spayed. She is more reserved and does not particularly enjoy being held, but she is bonded with her brother and feels most comfortable when he is nearby.

Because of their bond, a home where they can stay together would be wonderful. ❤️

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: These cats are NOT currently at the Humane Society of St. Thomas. This is a courtesy post to help a community member find them a new home.

If you are seriously interested in giving these two a home, please message the Humane Society of St. Thomas, and we will put you in contact with their current caretaker.

And please SHARE! Sometimes the perfect home is only one share away. 🐾💙

Thank you to the community member who stepped up when these cats needed someone. Now let’s help her finish their story by finding them a wonderful home. ❤️

🐾🌴 HAPPY TAILS UPDATE — CHUNKA IS NOW COKI! 🌴🐾

Remember our adorable little girl Chunka? She has officially found her forever home AND has a brand-new name!

A HUGE thank you to Coki’s new mom for choosing to ADOPT and opening her heart and home to this sweet girl. ❤️

🐱🌴 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY, ST. THOMAS! 🌴🐱

Today is a day to celebrate ALL the cats — and here on our little island, we certainly have plenty of them! ❤️

Our island is overflowing with cats, with colonies tucked into neighborhoods and communities all across St. Thomas. First, we want to give a HUGE thank you to the amazing people who faithfully feed these colonies, look after them, and make sure these coconut kitties know a little kindness. 🐾💕

But loving them also means helping control the population.

✂️ Our upcoming Spay & Neuter Clinic is August 13th, 14th & 15th!

If you care for a community cat or have cats of your own that still need to be spayed or neutered, this is a wonderful opportunity to get it done. Every cat we spay or neuter helps prevent another litter of kittens from being born into an island already struggling with more animals than there are homes and resources.

And speaking of kittens… 😻

🏠 OUR KITTEN HOUSE IS OVERFLOWING!

If you’ve ever thought about adopting, could there possibly be a better day than International Cat Day? We have so many precious kittens waiting for someone to walk through that door and fall in love. And remember… sometimes the best things come in pairs! 🐱🐱❤️

To every colony cat, porch cat, house cat, rescue cat, kitten and wonderfully unique Coconut Kitty on St. Thomas…

🌴🐾 WE LOVE YOU! 🐾🌴

Today, celebrate a cat.
Feed a cat.
Spay or neuter a cat.
Adopt a cat.
And help us create a better future for the cats of St. Thomas. ❤️

🐾 SPAY & NEUTER CLINIC — AUGUST 13, 14 & 15 🐾

We’ve been talking a lot about the importance of spaying and neutering—and now it’s time to take action.

We understand that people have many reasons for putting it off, but the reality is that St. Thomas has more unwanted puppies and kittens than our shelters, rescuers and community resources can handle. There simply are not enough homes or resources to care for them all.

Spaying or neutering your pet is one of the most responsible and compassionate things you can do—not only for your pet, but for our entire island community.

The Humane Society of St. Thomas will be holding a low-cost/no-cost spay and neuter clinic on August 13, 14 and 15.

Please use the link below to schedule your pet’s appointment:

If you need help covering the cost, please let us know. We do not want finances to stand in the way of doing the right thing for your pet and our community.

Please make your appointment, share this post and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same. Together, we can reduce the number of unwanted litters and create a better future for the animals of St. Thomas. ❤️🐶🐱

🐾💙 MEET MAX — OUR SUPER CUTE LITTLE DUDE! 💙🐾

We know we have quite a few people in our community who have been waiting for a smaller dog to come along… well, have you met MAX?! 👀😍

Max is estimated to be around 2 years old and is a smaller guy with adorable long, shaggy hair and a personality that makes him pretty hard to resist. 🥰

Funny enough, Max was picked up by one of our cat trappers — apparently he decided that was his opportunity to find his way to us! 😂🐾

He is super friendly, super cute, and very ready to get OUT of the shelter and into a home of his own.

We know those little dogs tend to get a lot of attention, so if you’ve been saying, “I’m waiting for a small dog…” 👀

MAX MIGHT BE YOUR GUY! 💙

Stop by the Humane Society of St. Thomas and meet this shaggy little dude. Let’s see if we can make Max’s shelter stay a SHORT one! 🙌🐶🏡

And please SHARE — Max’s person might be scrolling Facebook right now! 🐾❤️

🐾🍦 ANOTHER FABULOUS PUP CUP FRIDAY! 🍦🐾

Fridays just hit a little differently at the Humane Society of St. Thomas! ❤️

Our shelter pups enjoyed another round of Pup Cups, served up nice and cold—just the way they like them! 😋🐶

A HUGE thank you to our amazing volunteers who make sure the treats are ready, the cups are filled, and our pups get that little bit of extra love and excitement they look forward to each week. 🥰

It may seem like a simple treat, but for a shelter dog, these little moments of enrichment, attention, and LOVE mean so much. ❤️

Happy Pup Cup Friday from some very happy (and slightly messy 😂) pups at HSSTT!

🐾 Want to be part of moments like these? Come volunteer with us! There are plenty of tails waiting to wag just for you. 💕

🐾 It’s Kitten Season… and Our Cat House is Full of Tiny Purr Machines! 🐱💕

The Humane Society of St. Thomas is in full-blown kitten season, and we have so many precious little coconut kitties just waiting to find families of their own.

Here’s something you may not know… kittens often do better in pairs! Having a feline friend helps them burn off all that kitten energy, learn appropriate play behavior, build confidence, and keep each other company as they grow. Double the kittens often means double the fun (and half the mischief directed at you! 😉).

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, this weekend is the perfect time to stop by and visit our Cat House. You just might meet the kitten—or kittens—that steal your heart.

🚿 One important reminder: Please wash or sanitize your hands before entering the Cat House. It’s one of the best ways to help protect our little ones while they wait for their forever homes.

Come meet some of the sweetest coconut kitties on St. Thomas. They’re ready to fill your home with purrs, cuddles, and endless entertainment. 🐾❤️

🐾 PLEASE CHOOSE KINDNESS 🐾

It has been a difficult season for animal rescue, and so many of the people doing this work are tired—physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Rescuers do this because they have a passion for animals and a heart for helping. But when you open your heart to rescue, there is no way to completely protect it. You feel every abandoned animal, every heartbreaking situation, every difficult decision and every loss.

Behind the posts, phone calls, messages and pleas for help are real people doing the very best they can with limited space, resources and time. Many are carrying more than anyone realizes.

So today, we are asking our community to please be kind to one another. Before leaving a harsh comment or sending an angry message, take a moment to remember that you may be speaking to a rescuer who is already exhausted, overwhelmed or heartbroken.

There are so many people in our community trying their best to make a difference. We may not always agree, and none of us can save every animal—but kindness, compassion and working together will always take us further.

Please be gentle with one another. We are all human, and we all want the same thing: a safer, kinder future for the animals of St. Thomas. ❤️🐾
