SARS AUTO-ASSESSMENT


What's an auto-assessment, in plain English?

SARS uses the data they already have from your employer, medical aid, retirement annuity, bank, and a few other third parties. They use it to do your tax return for you. You don't have to fill anything in. SARS just sends you the result.

Sounds great, right? Here's the catch.
Why you shouldn't just accept it

SARS only knows what third parties told them. They don't know about:
• Extra income you earned, like freelance work, rental income, or a side hustle, that you still need to declare.
• Out-of-pocket medical costs your medical aid didn't cover.
• Donations to registered charities, known as S18A donations.
• Home office expenses, travel, wear and tear, and other deductions you're entitled to claim.
If any of those apply to you, the auto-assessment is not the full story. You could be paying more tax than you should. Or under-declaring income and getting queried by SARS later.

Please take note that the Auto assessments are random. You cannot choose to be auto assessed.

Experienced BOOKKEEPER Needed.
Based in Brackendowns, Alberton.

Role Description
This is a full day to full-time ON - SITE Only position located in Alberton. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for capturing all suppliers, customers and bank statements. They will also be responsible for bank reconciliations and possibly preparation of management Accounts and vat returns.

Qualifications
Proficiency in Bookkeeping
Experience with Accounting Software such as SAGE ONE, Pastel express, Pastel Partner and Palladium and a solid understanding of its utilization in day-to-day accounting tasks.
Knowledge of Debits and Credits essential.
Knowledge of classification of Income statement and balance sheet accounts essential
Knowledge of the vat act essential for allocation purposes
Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Deadline driven
Previous experience in a bookkeeping or similar financial role is essential (more than 3 years)
Female, 30 +
Previous experience working in an accounting/bookkeeping firm will be advantageous.
Only candidates living in Alberton or the South of JHB , will be considered.
Own transport essential
Please note that this is not a training position. This is for an experienced Bookkeeper that can get the ball rolling without hand holding.
Bookkeeping certificate not essential.
