A Nobel Prize winner tested it. In 2023, researchers including Daniel Kahneman found that for most people, happiness kept rising with income. It only levelled off for people who were already the least happy.

How do you get your kids ready to take over the farm?

Shaun's answer: it starts at one or two years old.

Get them on the farm as much as you can. Take them to work, put them in the passenger seat, get them involved.

Then schooling. Feilding Agriculture School has a couple of small farms, and students can get out on the farm once a week like any other class.

From there, Shaun will encourage them toward Telford Rural Polytech, where he studied in Balclutha. After that, it's up to them.

What a night for Thrive! 🏆

Last Friday we won the Technology Award at the Manawatū Business Awards.

When Pierre got up to accept it, the first thing he said was: "It's a little bit weird standing up here accepting a technology award, but I'm not a technologist."

He's right. We're an insurance advice business. But three years ago we started asking how we could make things better for our clients. A couple of trips to San Francisco, a window covered in marker-pen drawings and a crash course in all things tech later, we built something that works for our clients and our advisers.

One of the judges said, "You need to see it to believe it."

We were also named a finalist for the Supreme Business Award, where the judges look at the whole business. To be considered alongside such high-calibre companies is something we're incredibly proud of.
